![]() I had the company come back to do some additional cleaning that was a part of their service (and wasn’t done), but I just couldn’t stomach bringing them back a third time. We paid to have the home professionally cleaned before we moved in (we felt like that would help me out a lot with my foot still in a boot and a massive amount of unpacking to do), but sadly, it was a disappointing experience. I also took some time to do some good cleaning in a few places. This is a picture I took yesterday evening (and you can see a preview of our bedroom curtains, which I’ll share more about next week.) I’m not there, yet, but I am heading in the right direction. So, I’ve been watching some tutorials, shooting at different times of the day, and trying different things with my editing. When I try to edit the photos, they just don’t turn out the way I want. I’ve been having issues with windows being “blown out” meaning they are so bright they have lost all detail. One of the sort-of-house-related things I’ve been working on is learning how to photograph this house. We’ll get to the ever-evolving kitchen plans in a minute, but let’s start with some of the little things. So, the past few days have been about rest, plans, and getting a few small things done. With a sick kid at home and feeling a bit under the weather myself, this was a good week to slow things down. Sometimes you need to take some time to slow the pace, ponder upcoming projects, readjust the plans, and properly clean the house. Remember how I said I love decorating with candy corn? Well I made this candy corn bunting banner for our mantel using cereal boxes! It’s super easy and so cute.Home renovations aren’t always full-steam-ahead, especially if you’re living in the home while doing the work. I combination of candy corn, nuts and chocolate chips is like eating a snickers! ![]() One of my favorite snacks during this time of year is this snick-ers-treat. I made this Candy Corn “Corn” for our neighbors a few years ago. I love giving out gifts to our neighbors at the Holidays. They make great gifts for teachers, friends or neighbors too. The kids loved them and they taste really yummy. These candy corn pretzel rods look cute no matter how much yellow, orange or white you have on there. In my book, they don’t have to exactly the same or perfect. Stick them in the freezer or fridge for about 10 minutes and then start on the orange candy melts.ĭo the same with the orange and white candy melts, making sure you chill them in between colors. Shake off any excess candy and then put them on parchment or wax paper on a tray. ![]() Then dip/roll your pretzel rods in the yellow candy melts. Another tip is if the candy melts look a little too thick, add a little (1/2 tsp) vegetable oil to the candy to help thin it out. Just follow the package instructions for melting the candy and I find that a glass bowl works best for melting them. You start by melting the yellow candy melts first. I just bought my pretzel rods from the grocery store. Walmart usually has a them in their holiday baking aisles. You can find these at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, JoAnns, and Walmart. I just buy these candy melts in the candy corn colors. I think the colors just help me get into the fall spirit, and fall is my favorite season! I decided to whip up a quick treat for the kiddos to get us into the Halloween spirit, and these candy corn pretzel rods were a hit! I don’t know why I am addicted to those candies! Not only do I like to eat candy corn, I also love to decorate with candy corn. One of my most favorite things about halloween is the CANDY CORN!! I always load up on bags of candy corn.
